It’s your weekend to relax, knit with friends, take a break from the kids, and have fun creating A Whimsical Weekend Shawl. This shawl is a blast to knit, and it shows off that skein or two of variegated yarn so nicely with a large section of stockinette stitch. The pattern is written to use one skein of fingering weight yarn, but it’s easily modified to use up as much yarn as you have. It’s knit flat and has very simple cabled edges. (Even if you’ve never knit cables before, you can do this!) Cast on only 25 stitches, work the cabled edges with stockinette in between, increasing gradually until you’ve used up half your yarn. Then decrease until you have only 25 stitches left to bind off.
I really enjoyed working with the sparkly Fairy Cat Glitter Paw yarn from A Whimsical Wood Yarn Co. Her yarn is beautiful, and her colorway names are hilarious. Later this week, I’m giving away one skein of Fairy Cat Glitter Paw on Instagram, so if you’d like to enter, follow me there, and stay tuned for the giveaway post.
